This is the standard course for people in Scotland who want to train in community mediation or get a general grounding in mediation skills. Over 1000 people have so far successfully completed this course and have gone on to mediate in a wide range of situations in Scotland and further afield.
The course is accredited under the SCMN scheme as well as by the Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland, and is recognised as approved training for the Scottish Mediation Register. It is externally validated under the national Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework at Level 6.
Participants learn about the mediation process from first contact to meetings and beyond, using a mix of structured exercises, reflective discussion and skills practice underpinned by theory. The course is continuously assessed and successful participants are awarded the SCMC Mediation Skills Certificate in addition to national SCQF credits.
The course consists of five days of highly interactive training with two of our experienced tutors, a home study knowledge module, and some brief written work.
Total cost is £600 per person. We are also able to deliver this course to organisations in their workplace or elsewhere for around £6,000 (group of between six and twelve people).
