The Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution (SCCR) is a national resource promoting and supporting best practice in mediation, family conflict resolution and early intervention. We aim to improve relationships and lives, and reduce youth homelessness by reducing the biggest cause - family relationship breakdown.

A guiding principle of Sacro is that conflict is most effectively resolved through informal, facilitated resolution which assists those people involved to identify their own, lasting solutions. This FREE SEMINAR is facilitated by Scott Khalil, experienced Sacro mediator.

Conflict is an inevitable part of day to day life, often disrupting our relationships with family members and others in our communities. Wouldn’t it be great if we could equip ourselves with the skills to deal with conflict effectively, leading to a more positive impact on our relation-ships? Mediation is a proven method of helping others to resolve difficult situations in their re-lationships with others, but it is often used as a last resort. Earlier intervention with both con-flict resolution and mediation in families/between families, before things escalate to individuals having to leave their home is our joint aim so why don’t we work together to achieve this?

Learning Outcomes

Seminar participants will:

• Be clear of the current and possible future role of mediation
• Learn about Restorative Practice and how this approach, including peer mediation, in schools can lead to better relationships and the reduced use of sanctions
• Find out about Sacro’s plans to develop mediation in partnership with restorative justice services
